Electrical Upgrade

Enerdrive Lithium Power Pack Upgrade

 

We plan with our caravan to adventure to out of the way places and live off grid as much as possible. With this in mind we wanted at build to upgrade the existing electrical system which consisted of two 135 Ah AGM batteries Red Arc Battery Management System (BMS), two 160 watt solar panels and a 600 watt inverter.

 

Our upgrade consists of a 300 Ah Lithium Whitebox battery, Enerdrive 60 Amp battery charger, four 170 watt solar panels, an Enerdrive 2600 watt inverter and also an Enerdrive 40 Amp DC2DC ePOWER charger. This system also incorporates an ePRO Plus battery monitor and an ePOWER charger.

 

The DC2DC power charger allows charging from either the solar panels or the tow vehicle charging system. This source is determined automatically from input voltages. The ePOWER charger allows battery charging while either connected to mains or a suitable generator.

 

We also carry a GT 2500i generator (2400 watt) that we purchased through GES Alexandra. This is more for during winter months or continuous days of low sunlight.

Currently we have noticed with no power restrictions in place an average drop of 15% from the batteries overnight. These are fully recharged generally by mid-morning to midday even on overcast days. We plan on continuing to travel through the winter months so it will be interesting to see how the solar performs then.

 

The protection systems i.e. fuse boxes in the caravan are split between four locations so we have found it essential to identify each of these and what is supplied from them.
