About Us
Brent and I met in 2013 and got married in early 2015. We bought a Nissan Caravan that we converted into a small campervan that we planned to use to explore New Zealand. We headed to the South Island for a three week adventure, making our way south zig zagging the mountain passes and found ourselves in Omakau, a small town in Central Otago on the Rail Trail. I felt like I had come 'home' and told Brent that this was where we needed to live. I'm sure he thought I was crazy as he sat patiently while I searched through real estate listings to see what properties were available. I found a beautiful historic home in Lauder that was built in the 1920's as the 'Doctor's House'. We arranged to see it the next day. This was when Brent started to picture our future living in Central Otago. Before we got to Westport, as we started our journey home, we had bought the house. Four months later we had left Auckland and had moved to Lauder and started our new jobs.
The house was perfect for a bed & breakfast so we busied ourselves getting it ready for the next season.
We have worked so hard on our Lauder property and established a great business. This is just some of what we have achieved throughout our time here -
constructed a new driveway, we built a small cottage sleepout and a rustic outdoor bathroom with compost toilet and outdoor shower, renovated the kitchen and dining area and set up an art and craft shop in the front garage.
Fast forward 5 years and we decided to embark on our next adventure. We have now sold our B&B and bought a JB Dirt Road Extreme Caravan and a RAM 1500 to tow it.
We are currently based in Omakau, Central Otago. We live in our caravan full time, farm hopping through the term as I still teach at the local school. We head away exploring in the weekends and school holidays.
We are now 'awanderingwewillgo' - Travel blogger and wandering tradesman. We have a number of skills that may suit your needs. Tag and Test, air conditioning servicing, electrical repairs, odd jobs, farm work, proofreading and editing, bespoke crafts, art, photography and farm/pet sitters.
